Smarter Lunchrooms Movement Principles and Practices Workshops - Coming March 2016

Presented by Adam Brumberg, Cornell University

It's not nutrition until students eat or drink it!

A smartly run lunchroom nudges students toward making better choices on their own by changing the way the food choices are presented. Join us to discover low or no cost ways to promote the consumption of healthy school lunch options and reduce plate waste, using the evidence-based principles and practices of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement (SLM). Don’t miss this opportunity to become a part of the SLM in California!

Workshop Description:

This workshop provides a solid foundation in the theory of the SLM principles and practices. In this five-hour introductory workshop, you will identify and diagnose school lunchroom challenges and develop a plan to implement one to three changes in the lunchroom. Participate in an interactive session on how to engage internal and external stakeholders, and learn about front-line training, implementation resources, and ways to measure success.

Prerequisite:

Before attending the training, you must view the 2-hour online course on the smartlunchroom.org website. This will greatly enhance your understanding of Smarter Lunchrooms and help you get the most out of the in-person training.

Smarter Lunchrooms: Influencing Meal and Beverage Choices and Improving Participation

We all agree it’s not nutrition until students eat it or drink it. A smartly run lunchroom nudges students toward making better choices on their own by changing the way their options are presented. Join us to discover low- or no-cost ways to promote the consumption of healthy school lunch options, using the evidence-based principles of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement.

You will hear how a local school district used the Smarter Lunchrooms approach to encourage milk selection, and you’ll learn about research and resources to market your meal program.
